How does ePub Wizard work?

Turning your picturebook into an eBook is fast and simple:

 

1. fill out the fields on the order form

2. upload your print manuscript (pdf format) and a cover image (jpg or png format).

3. pay and submit your order

What does ePub Wizard do?

The service optimizes your eBook by:

 

-Generating landscape spreads.  If you have artwork that spans two pages, the reader will see it as intended!

-Compressing the cover and interior pages to achieve an optimal balance between quality and file size.

-Skipping unnecessary pages at the beginning or end of your eBook with a simple checkbox.

-Adding pro-level metadata, like separate entries for author vs illustrator, title vs subtitle, etc.

Who who should use it?

ePub Wizard is ideal for picturebook authors that need a fixed-format eBook under 150 pages.  The files work virtually everywhere and are optimized to increase royalties.  I don't recommend the service for text-heavy books.

How long does it take?

Your file will be emailed from "epubwizard@gmail.com" within 24 hours, though often much faster.  Please add this address to your contacts and/or check your spam folder if you do not see it.

 

Why ePub?

ePub is a widely supported eBook format, and is a preferred upload format for Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing.

 

Can't I make eBooks for free?

Totally! But many conversion tools are not designed for compatible picturebooks.  Your book may not look as intended on all platforms, the file size may be bloated, and the book could fail validation.  I outline the features and limitations of some popular conversion tools HERE.  I encourage you to try ePub Wizard at least once to see the difference!

How can I preview my ePub?

The file can be opened directly in the Apple Books app, Nook app, and with "Kindle Previewer" desktop app.  You can also "side-load" an ePub to a Kindle by emailing it to your Send to Kindle Address with the subject line "convert" (omit the quotes). *Side-loaded files can look strange on the Kindle phone app, so we recommend Kindle Previewer for the most accurate representation.  You can also check the "free sample" when your book goes live on KDP.
 

Do you include popup text?

We do not currently offer popup text as part of the service.  Picturebooks often feature large, easy-to-read text, and it's easy to zoom in on most devices.

Do you support multiple languages?

The flattened manuscript can technically contain any language, but our book metadata currently supports English, Spanish, German, and Portuguese.  We plan to expand the options in the near future.
